"When my son lost his way, Nameless
welcomed him in, asked no questions and helped him find his way. It was
a fantastic, respectful program that provided wonderful opportunities
for performance and for discovering inner talents. I will forever be
grateful to Nameless Sound for the path they provided. He is now
in a band and interning as an audio engineer...living his dream!”

"Individuals that decide to take part in Nameless Sound's
workshops or educational programs come away with a vital new skill, to
approach every new moment with confidence. The importance of teaching
improvisation to a younger generation will only help in advancing their
abilities to face the trials that lay in life ahead. Houston is lucky
to have an organization like Nameless
as part of its cultural map. Without them I would not have had the
courage to become the woman and artist I am today. Thank you, Dave
& Nameless Sound."

Friends of Nameless Sound,
15 years, Nameless Sound has introduced Houston to the premier
international names in improvised music, sound art and musical
composition. These artists don’t only encounter Houston’s concert-going
public; they work directly with our city’s most underserved youth in
homeless shelters, refugee communities, and public schools.
Nameless Sound’s work with youth is not limited to encounters with
visiting artists. Our own staff of artist-facilitators works with these
young people every day in a unique, hands-on program that emphasizes
listening, diversity, creativity and collaboration. Through this
program, we reach over 1500 children every year in 18 weekly sessions.
2015 has been a landmark year of developments in our education program:
We have completed our facilitators' handbook, which states the
philosophy and pedagogy of Nameless Sound's program and identifies the
potential outcomes of our work such as knowledge transfer, creative
work, play and therapy. This will be published by Routlage in 2016.
Our facilitators are currently engaged in intensive professional
training with a focus on trauma and children in crisis. By January
2016, we will have formalized a permanent in-house training program,
under the consultation of a psychotherapist specializing in trauma and
We completed our first year of comprehensive data collection and
assessment for each Nameless Sound site. By the end of this year, we
will have a full report with an assessment and analysis of our
In addition to the exciting developments in our work with Houston’s
youth, Nameless Sound’s concert series continues to showcase
world-premiers and site-specific works not seen anywhere else. We
presented sold-out concerts in unique environments that ranged from
Houston’s oldest standing elementary school building, to the historic
Eldorado Ballroom, to a destination event deep in the West Texas desert.

nurture the next generation of creative minds, we will need your help.
